About this opportunity
The Department of the Air Force Air Combat Command has issued a Special Notice announcing its intent to award a sole source contract for specific HC-130J aircraft hardware. The notice pertains to the procurement of 4 Support Fittings (Part #3337832-2) and 4 Panel Supports (Part #3337833-2), which are unique components critical to the aircraft's operation. This procurement is based on Technical Assistance Report (TAR) Control Number 2025-02127 Part 2 and follows Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) guidelines for sole source contracting. The notice serves to inform the public about the government's procurement intention and provide an opportunity for potential alternative sources to demonstrate their capabilities. The specialized nature of these parts suggests they are specifically engineered for the HC-130J aircraft's technical requirements.
The primary purpose of this Special Notice is to provide transparency in the government's procurement process while maintaining the option to proceed with a direct sole source award. Interested contractors are invited to submit comprehensive capability information in writing by 4:30 pm MDT on May 15, 2025, though the government emphasizes that this is an informational notice and not a competitive solicitation. Any submissions will be evaluated solely to assess the feasibility of conducting a competitive procurement, with the government reserving the right to make a final determination about competition based on the responses received. The notice applies to all potential contractors who believe they can fulfill the specific hardware requirements, though the unique technical specifications of the parts may limit broad competitive interest. Contractors should carefully review the attached technical documentation, including precise attach angle specifications and part images, to understand the exact nature of the required components. Ultimately, the Air Force will make a final determination on whether to compete the requirement or proceed with the intended sole source contract.

While responses to this notice of intent to sole source are not anticipated, interested parties who believe they can fulfill the requirements are encouraged to submit comprehensive information in writing, detailing their capability to provide the specified supply. In accordance with FAR 5.203(a)(1), submissions must be received by 4:30 pm MDT on 15 May 2025.
