About this opportunity
The U.S. Army Medical Research Acquisition Activity, on behalf of the U.S. Air Force 59th Medical Wing, has issued a Notice of Intent to Sole Source a blood fluid warmer contract to the University of Colorado. The notice is for a follow-on Phase II requirement to compare blood warming devices and identify the most effective device for out-of-hospital, field use.
The purpose of the research is to characterize the impact of transfusing cold-stored whole blood on thermoregulation in large swine, both with and without a blood warming device. This will be a sole source contract, as the government's market research indicates the University of Colorado is the only source capable of providing the required research and development services. The NAICS code is 541714 (Research and Development in Biotechnology) with a 1,000-employee size standard. Any sources capable of providing these services must respond in writing with clear evidence of their ability by the due date of May 3, 2024. If no responses are received, the contract will be awarded without further notice.
