About this opportunity
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Research and Development Center (ERDC), Geotechnical and Structures Laboratory (GSL) has issued a Special Notice announcing its intent to sole source a contract for annual maintenance of the ERDC Centrifuge to Acutronic USA, Inc. The contract will be a Firm Fixed Price award for maintenance services of the large-beam centrifuge located at the Centrifuge Research Complex, which supports research across geotechnical, structural, coastal, hydraulic, and environmental engineering fields. The agency justifies the sole source approach based on Acutronic's unique expertise with large beam centrifuges, specifically the 684 Model of which only two exist worldwide. Acutronic possesses proprietary technology, controls access to technical documentation, and has over 30 years of specialized experience with this equipment type. The contract falls under NAICS code 811310 with a size standard of $20.5 million annual receipts and will be awarded under FAR 13.500.
The primary purpose of this notice is to inform the contracting community of the government's intent to proceed with a sole source award while providing an opportunity for other vendors to demonstrate their capabilities. Interested contractors may submit capability statements, proposals, or quotations by 12:00 PM CST on July 9, 2025, to Janalyn Dement at the specified email address. Submissions must include sufficient detail to demonstrate the vendor's ability to fulfill the requirement, along with descriptions of past experience with same or similar requirements and relevant references. The government will consider all responses solely to determine whether to conduct a competitive procurement instead of the planned sole source award. Contractors must be eligible under the applicable NAICS code and size standards, and oral communications are not acceptable responses to this notice.
