About this opportunity
The National Institute of Standards and Technology is preparing a market research sources-sought announcement for one 399 nm narrow linewidth fiber laser system, with capability statement responses due August 5, 2026. If at least two qualified small businesses are identified during this market research phase, the acquisition will be solicited as a small business set-aside; NIST is currently accepting responses from all responsible sources regardless of size.
The requesting organization is the Physical Measurement Laboratory, Time and Frequency Division. The laser system must deliver center wavelength of 398.911 nm with linewidth less than 10 kHz (100 microsecond integration), output power greater than 1 W, and monitor ports at 798 nm (>5 mW) and 1596 nm (~5 mW). Additional specifications include optical power stability less than 0.75% at 3 hours (RMS), relative intensity noise less than 0.05% integrated from 10 Hz to 10 MHz, thermal tuning range of +/- 0.125 nm without mode hops, PZT tuning range greater than 3 GHz with bandwidth exceeding 5 kHz, collimated output with M2 less than 1.1, linear output polarization exceeding 20 dB, air cooling, and a 3U rackmountable controller with laser head dimensions not exceeding 215 mm x 445 mm x 118 mm. A minimum two-year warranty is required.
Delivery, installation, and training must complete within 16–18 weeks after receipt of order. The procurement is classified under NAICS 334516 (Analytical Laboratory Instrument Manufacturing) with a small business size standard of 1,000 employees. Interested vendors must submit four-page capability statements including company name, country of origin or manufacture, relevant spec sheets, product examples, typical delivery lead time, and other pertinent specification development information to Contract Specialist Matthew M. Delgado at matthew.delgado@nist.gov.
