About this opportunity

The Air Force Life Cycle Management Center (AFLCMC) at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio is conducting market research through a Sources Sought Notice on behalf of the Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT) to identify sources for a High-Precision Wavemeter, with email responses due by 11:00 a.m. Eastern Time on November 12, 2026. The Set Aside line reads "No Set-Aside Used," and the notice states that a set-aside decision has not yet been made. Small businesses are explicitly invited to respond.

The notice describes a requirement for personnel, equipment, tools, materials, and supervision to perform High-Precision Wavemeter measurements and associated data for physics research at AFIT. The attached Statement of Work describes procuring one High Finesse WS8-2 wavemeter system with an eight-channel switch (MCLC8) and an absolute Rubidium reference source, plus installation and up to 20 hours of operational training. Delivery is due within 180 days after receipt of order to AFIT/ENP, Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio 45433.

Minimum technical requirements include wavelength measurement from 390 to 1180 nanometers, absolute accuracy of 10 MHz across that range, 2 MHz within 2 nm of the reference source, 200 kHz resolution, 1 kHz measurement speed, and simultaneous measurement of up to eight channels. The system must include a PID controller for external laser frequency stabilization and a calibration source at 780.24 nm. It must measure both pulsed and continuous wave sources. All products must be manufactured in a qualifying country under DFARS 225.872, with non-qualifying country costs borne by the contractor. A 90-day warranty covers defects in material and workmanship under normal use. Payment is made through Wide Area Work Flow after final inspection and acceptance.

Responses require a capability package, company name, address, CAGE code, Unique Entity ID, point of contact, and size status under NAICS 334516. Respondents must be registered in SAM. Small business respondents pursuing the prime role must address compliance with the 50-percent subcontracting limitation. Email subject line must read "FA860127Q0020, Sources Sought: 'High-Precision Wavemeter.'"
