About this opportunity
The Department of Veterans Affairs Veterans Health Administration Veterans Integrated Service Network 17 is procuring two Steris manufactured AMSCO 600 Pre-vacuum Steam Sterilizers (26.5") for delivery and installation at the Central Texas Veterans Health Care System's Sterile Processing Service. These sterilizers must provide high capacity chambers validated to sterilize up to 300 lbs of surgical instruments in accordance with ANSI/AAMI ST79:2017 standards, and will replace two aging AMSCO EVOLUTION HC100 Pre-vacuum Sterilizers currently in the Prep Area, one of which is inoperable. The procurement is being conducted as a single-source acquisition justified by Steris's unique qualifications, including their existing maintenance contract, specific facility experience, and the risks associated with introducing alternative equipment systems. Offerors must submit technical and pricing volumes along with required representations and certifications, and must be registered in the System for Award Management (SAM). The solicitation was posted on July 10, 2025, with offers due by 12:00 PM Central Standard Time on July 18, 2025.
This procurement does not utilize any set-aside designation and is being conducted under Simplified Acquisition Procedures with a total value not exceeding the Simplified Acquisition Threshold of $250,000. Steris appears to be the incumbent contractor based on their current maintenance agreement and the single-source justification documentation. The contract structure is firm fixed-price with a 45-day performance period and delivery scheduled for 60 days after contract award. The sterilizer specifications include integrated 30kW electric steam generators, stainless steel chambers, pneumatic sliding doors, thermal printers, and USB data download capabilities with comprehensive warranty terms. Performance will take place at the Central Texas Veterans Health Care System facility in Temple, Texas, with funding provided for Fiscal Year 2025 by the National Office of Sterile Processing.
