About this opportunity
The Department of the Interior Bureau of Reclamation seeks fabrication and installation of a replacement N1 Brake Ring assembly at Hoover Dam, with sealed bids due October 2, 2026, at 10:00 AM Pacific Time. Amendment 0001, effective September 3, 2026, extended the original September 11 deadline; written questions are due September 3.
Place of performance is Hoover Dam, Boulder City, Nevada. The work consists of manufacturing ten brake plates from ASTM A588 Grade B steel with stress relief and specified surface finishes (32 micro-inches at brake-pad interface, 125 micro-inches maximum elsewhere), removing existing brake plates as templates, providing all fasteners and weldments, conducting field machining, and installing the new brake ring onto the Unit N1 rotor. Machining tolerances are fractional measurements at 1/32 inches, angular measurements at 0.25 degrees, two-place decimals at 0.02 inches, three-place decimals at 0.005 inches, and plate thickness at 0.002 inches. Fabricated plates must be delivered by October 1, 2027; onsite installation runs November 15, 2027 through February 15, 2028, within 30 days of Notice to Proceed. Work hours are limited to 0600–1600 hours local time, Monday through Saturday, excluding Sundays and Federal Holidays. All contractor personnel require a Government-issued PIV card per HSPD-12, with the contractor bearing credentialing costs. The rotor housing interior contains lead paint; asbestos is not present.
The estimated project value is $100,000 to $250,000. Davis-Bacon prevailing wage rates (NV20260071, effective July 30, 2026) apply. Award is firm-fixed-price based on best value considering Technical Capability, Schedule, Past Performance, and Price. A bid bond of 20 percent of bid price, performance bond, and payment bond are due within 14 calendar days of award. An extended five-year structural integrity warranty covering all brake ring components against defects is required. NAICS code 237110 applies; PSC is J047.
