About this opportunity

The Department of the Army's Portfolio Acquisition Executive (Fires) issued an open solicitation for advanced and innovative munitions and fires capabilities on March 20, 2026, which remains open in perpetuity until canceled. The solicitation (W50RAJ-26-S-0001) operates under multiple authorities including FAR 35.016 Broad Agency Announcement, 10 U.S.C. 4021–4023, and the Defense Commercial Solutions Opening framework, and seeks flexible business arrangements to rapidly research, develop, prototype, test, evaluate, and field critical fires capabilities addressing near-term and mid-term threats.

Contractors may respond via two pathways: Fires Capability Gap (FCG) submissions for open-ended solutions, or responses to Government-issued Calls for Solutions. FCG submissions follow a three-phase process—Phase 1 solution brief (5 pages or 15 slides maximum), optional Phase 2 live pitch and demonstration, and Phase 3 full proposal—with quarterly evaluation on technical merit, schedule feasibility, and company viability. Compliant FCG briefs remain awardable for 18 months after receipt. Eighteen example capability areas span advanced radar and sensors, electronic countermeasures, hypersonic weapons, directed energy, counter-UAS, AI/ML digital transformation, and lethal effects technologies.

Award instruments include fixed-price contracts, cost-type contracts, and Other Transactions for prototypes, with potential follow-on production contracts. Eligible contractors must maintain SAM registration with UEI, register in Wide Area Work Flow, possess appropriate security clearances, and store Government data in U.S. facilities. The Government does not fund evaluation participation costs or proposal preparation. FCG Solution Briefs are submitted to usarmy.redstone.pae-fires.list.open-solicitations@army.mil.
