About this opportunity

The National Institutes of Health National Cancer Institute Center for Cancer Research is procuring a Modulight ML8500 biomedical illumination system under sole-source authority (FAR 6.302-1), with responses due by 11:00 p.m. EDT on July 17, 2026. The procurement is not set-aside.

The Molecular Imaging Branch requires the ML8500 automatic illuminator system to support near-infrared photoimmunotherapy (NIR-PIT) research comparing two photoactivatable dyes: IR700 (requiring 690 nm activation wavelength) and FI702HKT (requiring 680 nm activation wavelength). The equipment must deliver precise experimental control and support both wavelengths under reproducible conditions. Modulight USA, Inc. is the intended awardee due to continuity of research data and protocols with existing Modulight laser systems already in use.

The agency invites capability statements from small businesses, including 8(a) firms, service-disabled veteran-owned small businesses, HUBZone small businesses, small disadvantaged businesses, veteran-owned small businesses, and women-owned small businesses demonstrating their ability to fulfill the requirement. The government reserves the right to compete the award based on responses received. Award is anticipated approximately ten days after the notice date unless another vendor demonstrates capability to meet the requirement.

Responses must be submitted to david.shen@nih.gov.
