About this opportunity
The Department of War's Strategic Capabilities Office (SCO), under the Office of the Secretary of Defense, is seeking market research and industry capabilities for its Long Range Fires (LRF) Portfolio to support countermeasures against near-peer adversaries. The procurement focuses on game-changing technologies at the prototype stage or ready for near-term demonstration, including offensive and defensive prototypes, kinetic and non-kinetic applications, and adaptations of existing or emerging commercial technologies. Interested parties must complete a vetting process by submitting required company and point-of-contact information to LRF-RFI@SCO.MIL by May 29, 2026, with all requested items mandatory for consideration. Only vetted respondents will receive the full Request for Information (RFI) and access to any necessary classified discussions related to prototype evaluation and demonstration. The agency actively encourages responses from both traditional and non-traditional defense organizations, indicating a broad outreach approach to identify innovative solutions.
This pre-solicitation notice contains no set-aside designations, identified incumbent contractors, or specified award values or budget ranges. The procurement does not indicate a predetermined quantity of goods or a defined service timeline, as the focus is on identifying capable organizations and evaluating prototype-stage technologies for potential demonstration. No current contractor information is provided in the notice. The vetting process serves as the initial screening mechanism to establish a secure communication channel and identify qualified respondents before the formal RFI is released. Interested parties must ensure they provide complete information, including company UEI number, CAGE code, and full point-of-contact details including Social Security number or citizenship status verification, to proceed beyond the preliminary vetting stage.
