About this opportunity
The U.S. Geological Survey Pacific Coastal and Marine Science Center seeks a complete rebuild of an oversized marine boat trailer, with quotations due May 12, 2026 at 8:00 AM Pacific Time. This procurement is a total small business set-aside using simplified acquisition procedures for commercial items under FAR Part 12.
Place of performance is Santa Cruz, California. The contractor shall replace three existing 9,000-pound capacity axles with three new 10,000-pound capacity spring axles equipped with disc brakes and Bearing Buddy grease-filled hub protection; replace the braking system (electric-over-hydraulic configuration, or offeror-recommended specifications appropriate for the 10,000-pound axles and 25,000-pound vessel load); inspect and replace wheels, tires, and suspension components as needed; inspect and upgrade electrical systems for DOT compliance; inspect and replace bunks and hull support structures; replace plastic fender covers with rigid fenders; and apply marine-grade protective coatings to steel structural components. The USGS will provide the government-furnished marine trailer, estimated value $30,000. Period of performance is May 18 through August 16, 2026 (90 calendar days from award). Deliverables include the rebuilt trailer, an inspection and certification report, a post-rebuild operational checklist and test log, and detailed parts and service documentation in digital and hard copy formats.
The NAICS code is 336212, Truck Trailer Manufacturing; PSC code is J025. Award will be made to the lowest price technically acceptable offeror, with past performance as an evaluation factor. The contract is firm fixed price, subject to the Service Contract Act. Contracting office is USGS OAG Sacramento Acquisition Branch. Amendment 0002, posted May 5, clarifies axle and braking system specifications and extends the deadline from April 27 to May 12.
