About this opportunity
The National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) at the National Institutes of Health is seeking a one-year maintenance and repair service agreement for a collection of Leica Microsystems microscopy equipment. The solicitation is a Notice of Intent (NOI-NIAID-25-2253577) to negotiate a non-competitive contract directly with Leica Microsystems Inc. for service of twelve specific microscopy instruments, including ultramicrotomes, sectioning equipment, sputter coaters, and grid plungers. Interested vendors must submit a capability statement by January 20, 2025, at 10:00 AM EST to Kelly Lowe, demonstrating the ability to provide priority service and partnership with Leica Microsystems. Third-party vendors will only be considered if they can provide evidence of a contract with Leica Microsystems. The government maintains full discretion to determine whether to compete this requirement based on the responses received, with the statutory authority for this sole-source requirement cited under 41 U.S.C. 1901(a)(1) and implemented through FAR 13.106-1.
The solicitation does not include any specific set-aside designations and is classified under NAICS code 811210 for Electronic and Precision Equipment Repair and Maintenance. The contract will cover maintenance of specific Leica microscopy equipment with serial numbers ranging from 524561 to 612542, indicating multiple units of various models such as EM UC6b Ultramicrotome, EM FC6, EM ICE, and EM ACE600 Double Sputter Coater. The period of performance is set for one year, from March 1, 2025, to February 29, 2026, with the place of performance located in Hamilton, Montana. While no specific award value is mentioned, the scope involves comprehensive maintenance services for sophisticated laboratory microscopy equipment. The solicitation emphasizes that this is a pre-solicitation notice and not a formal request for proposal, leaving room for potential modifications or adjustments to the procurement approach.
