About this opportunity
The Department of Energy's Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory is seeking a subcontractor to provide vacuum roughing pump equipment and associated components for the PIP-II Linac Warm Front End (WFE) system. The procurement requires seven multi-stage dry roots pumps with specific technical specifications including 500 l/min pumping speed, ultimate total pressure of 0.03mbar, NW25 minimum inlet port, gas ballast, analog and digital I/O for PLC-based controls, and NRTL certification. Additional requirements include 350m pump cables, necessary controllers, communication cables, power cables, and connector kits, with all equipment meeting Ultra High Vacuum (UHV) cleaning procedures and capable of operating with cables up to 90m long. The evaluation will follow a Low Price Technically Acceptable source selection process, with award going to the responsible supplier offering the lowest evaluated price that meets all technical requirements. Vendors must provide at least three references of similar projects for laboratory or governmental entities within the last five years, and the proposal submission deadline is August 7, 2025.
This procurement does not utilize any set-aside designations and is open to all qualified suppliers. The contract requires delivery of seven Multi-Stage dry roots pumps (specifically the NeoDry30G-2 model, part number PR-0026961), 350 cables, and 8 cable connector sets, with all items delivered F.O.B. Fermilab Dock with freight charges included. The equipment must be new, cleaned according to UHV procedures, oil-free and dust-free, with a service interval of 5 years or longer. Performance will take place in Bath, Illinois, with acceptance testing occurring within 14 days of delivery at the Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory. The procurement is part of the larger Proton Improvement Plan Phase 2 (PIP-II) project and is managed under Department of Energy Prime Contract No. DE-AC02-07CH11359.
