About this opportunity
The Defense Logistics Agency has published a Special Notice regarding a Limited Source Justification for Mechanical Maintenance Services under GSA Schedule FAR 8.405-6(a)(1)(i)(B). This notice, posted on February 6, 2026, informs the public of the Government's intent to extend an existing GSA Federal Supply Schedule task order for mechanical maintenance services at the Andrew T. McNamara Headquarters Complex located at Fort Belvoir, Virginia. The extension will be issued as a limited source modification to the incumbent contractor under the authority of FAR 8.405-6(a)(1)(i)(B), which addresses situations where only one source is capable of providing the required services. This notice is published for informational purposes only and does not constitute a solicitation; responses will not be considered.
The Government's objective is to ensure continuity of critical mechanical maintenance services—including routine maintenance, operation, repair, and care of HVAC equipment and related building systems—while completing evaluation and award of a competitive follow-on procurement. The justification for this limited source extension emphasizes the incumbent contractor's operational knowledge, active performance, and familiarity with the Government's systems, and cites the unacceptable service delays and duplication costs that would result from transitioning to another contractor. Contractors must hold an active Facility Security Clearance at the Secret level and provide written verification as part of any proposal. Services will be provided at existing GSA Schedule rates previously determined to be fair and reasonable. This temporary extension is necessary to maintain operational continuity while the Government completes a competitive follow-on procurement, with a deadline of February 20, 2026.
