About this opportunity
The Department of the Air Force Materiel Command Lifecycle Management Center at Wright Patterson Air Force Base is conducting market research to identify qualified contractors capable of providing sustaining engineering services for the AAQ-13 LANTIRN (Low Altitude Navigation and Targeting Infrared for Night) Navigation Pod and its associated Line Replaceable Units. The solicitation seeks contractors with expertise in system maintenance deficiency evaluation and resolution, parts obsolescence management, engineering change proposal development and review, sustainment studies, and technical services supporting system supportability analysis for use by the United States Air Force. Qualified contractors must demonstrate experience with the specific part numbers identified, possess appropriate security clearance capabilities for classified material handling, maintain AS9100 certification for quality assurance, and have the technical infrastructure to support repair and sustainment operations. This is a Request for Information only, issued solely for market research and planning purposes, and does not constitute a binding commitment to award a contract. Interested contractors must submit detailed responses to the capability survey by March 18, 2026 at 1500 EST to antwan.thomas@us.af.mil, with written questions accepted through the same deadline.
This market research notice carries no set-aside designation and reflects the current sole source contractor as Lockheed Martin Integrated Systems, though the Government is actively seeking alternative sources of supply. The anticipated contract structure is a five-year Indefinite Delivery Indefinite Quantity agreement consisting of one base year plus four optional one-year periods, extending through Fiscal Year 2031, with primary performance anticipated at Lockheed Martin's Missile Fire Control Division in Orlando, Florida, and potentially at the LM Worldwide LANTIRN Depot at Robins Air Force Base. Both large and small businesses are encouraged to participate, including joint ventures and teaming arrangements, with contractors invited to identify areas suitable for small business set-asides. The LANTIRN Navigation Pod is a critical system installed on the F-15E Strike Eagle that is scheduled to remain in service through 2040 for Air Combat Command, establishing long-term sustainment demand. No specific award value or budget range is provided in this pre-solicitation notice, as this remains a market research phase designed to assess contractor capabilities and interest prior to formal solicitation development.
