About this opportunity
The Department of Veterans Affairs Veterans Health Administration is conducting market research to identify potential contractors for repairing and upgrading the SwissLogic pneumatic tube system at the Edward Hines Jr. VA Hospital in Hines, Illinois. The Great Lakes Acquisition Center is seeking businesses capable of providing a comprehensive repair and upgrade solution, with a focus on determining market interest and contractor qualifications. Interested firms must submit a capabilities statement by March 27, 2025, at 10:00 AM CST, which should include company details, business status, unique entity identification, and previous experience with similar systems. The evaluation will assess contractors' ability to meet the technical requirements and perform the work within the specified 80-day performance period. Contractors must be registered in the System for Award Management (SAM) and comply with FAR 52.219-14, which requires at least 50% of contract performance costs to be expended on prime contractor employees.

The contract falls under NAICS code 811210 for Electronic and Precision Equipment Repair and Maintenance, with a size standard of $34 million in annual revenue. The project scope includes installing 22 recessed Nexus panels, 22 Mini-UPS kits, 16 PCBs for blowers and transfer units, a remote client PC with Nexus application, and 43 data drops to support stations and transfer units. While no specific incumbent contractor is mentioned, the procurement is specifically focused on upgrading the existing SwissLogic pneumatic tube system at the VA hospital. The contract will require strict adherence to infection control and facility access requirements typical of healthcare environment construction and maintenance projects.
