About this opportunity
The Department of Veterans Affairs Veterans Health Administration Veterans Integrated Service Network 6 (VA VHA VISN 6) issued a Special Notice on April 28, 2025, regarding the cancellation of Request for Quote (RFQ) 36C24625Q0157 for Patient Lift Maintenance Service at the Richmond VA Medical Center (VAMC). The solicitation, originally planned for maintenance services, was abruptly terminated due to significant discrepancies discovered during the quote review process. Specific issues included errors in equipment documentation, such as inaccurate model and serial numbers, and incomplete equipment location inventories. The most notable deficiency was the omission of Community-Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOCs) from the equipment inventory. The contracting officer, Warren A Pennil, formally communicated the cancellation to all mission partners who had responded to the initial RFQ.
The primary purpose of this Special Notice was to formally communicate the cancellation of the current solicitation and indicate that a new procurement will be developed at a future date. The RFQ was classified under NAICS category 811210 for Electronic and Precision Equipment Repair and Maintenance and Product Service Code J065 for maintenance of medical equipment. While no specific eligibility criteria were outlined in this notice, potential contractors should anticipate a future solicitation for patient lift maintenance services. The cancellation suggests that the VA will undertake a comprehensive review and correction of equipment documentation before reissuing the RFQ. Interested vendors are advised to monitor future solicitations and ensure precise documentation of equipment details, including accurate model numbers, serial numbers, and comprehensive location inventories. The contracting office is located at 100 Emancipation Drive, Hampton, VA 23667, and interested parties can contact Warren Pennil at warren.pennil@va.gov or 757-722-9961, extension 18635, for potential future inquiries.
