About this opportunity

The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), Veterans Integrated Service Network 21, specifically its Network Contracting Office (NCO) 21 located in Fresno, California, has issued a Notice of Intent (NOI) to announce its intention to sole source a contract for preventative maintenance and emergency repair services. The intended contractor is Tecniplast USA, Inc., based in West Chester, Pennsylvania, which will provide maintenance and repair services for a Series 900 Rack Washer, Serial Number 901223, at the VA San Francisco Medical Center. This Notice of Intent is being published under FAR Part 13 Simplified Acquisition Procedures and FAR Part 12 commercial item procedures. The procurement has been classified under NAICS 811210 (Electronic and Precision Equipment Repair and Maintenance) and PSC J065 (Maintenance, Repair, and Rebuilding of Medical, Dental, and Veterinary Equipment). The sole source determination is based on the government's assessment that this requirement can best be satisfied by services available from one source only.

The primary purpose of this Notice of Intent is to inform industry contractors of the government's intent to execute a sole source award with Tecniplast USA, Inc., as authorized under FAR 6.302-1. The notice was posted on January 20, 2026, with the same date serving as the due date, indicating an expedited timeline for this announcement. This notice is explicitly not a formal solicitation, and the government will not accept unsolicited quotations or proposals in response to it; furthermore, telephone requests will not be entertained. While this notice provides an opportunity for interested parties to submit clear and compelling evidence that competition would be advantageous to the government, the VA has determined that the specialized nature of maintaining this specific equipment warrants single-source procurement. The SBA size standard for this sector is $22.0 million, and interested contractors may need to demonstrate how their qualifications support the government's needs for this specialized medical equipment maintenance requirement.
