About this opportunity

The Department of Veterans Affairs Veterans Health Administration, Veterans Integrated Service Network 8, is seeking a comprehensive preventive maintenance and support agreement for Medrad contrast injector systems through a brand name solicitation for DirectCARE Basic Service. The procurement involves corrective and planned maintenance services for three medical imaging injection systems located at the C.W. Bill Young VAMC in Bay Pines, Florida: one Medrad Intego PET Infusion System and two Medrad MRXperion MR Injection Systems. The contract requires maintenance services that ensure optimal performance and longevity of the injectors used in CT, MRI, and angiography imaging procedures, with particular emphasis on equipment reliability and compliance with health and safety regulations. The government will evaluate proposals based on capability to provide comprehensive maintenance and support for these proprietary Bayer Healthcare systems, including preventive maintenance, technical support, software updates, and parts replacement. The formal solicitation is anticipated to be released on or about October 24, 2025, with responses due approximately 10 days thereafter through the SAM.gov website.

This procurement is set aside for Small Business concerns, with potential eligibility for Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Businesses (SDVOSB) or Veteran-Owned Small Businesses (VOSB) designations. Bayer Healthcare LLC is the incumbent contractor, having previously been awarded a similar single-source maintenance agreement for related VA facilities, and the justification documentation indicates that only Bayer or authorized service providers can perform maintenance due to the proprietary nature of the equipment and specialized training requirements. While no specific award value is disclosed in the pre-solicitation notice, the contract structure includes a base period with two option years for potential extension of the performance period. The procurement uses NAICS code 811210 (Electronic and Precision Equipment Repair and Maintenance) and PSC code J065 (Maintenance/Repair/Rebuild of Equipment - Medical, Dental, and Veterinary Equipment and Supplies), with the contracting point of contact identified as Lakiesha Anderson at the Department of Veterans Affairs Network Contracting Office 8.
