About this opportunity
The Department of the Interior's Interior Business Center has issued a Notice of Intent to Sole Source for the acquisition of one Illumina MiSeq i100 Plus Sequencing System. This special notice, posted on April 3, 2026, represents the Government's intent to negotiate a firm-fixed-price acquisition directly with Illumina, Inc., pursuant to FAR 6.302-1 authority. The system is intended for the National Cancer Institute's Center for Cancer Research Genomics Core facility located in Bethesda, Maryland. The acquisition will include delivery, installation, and training services as part of the overall contract. Illumina has been identified as the sole source provider capable of delivering an OEM-certified system with compatible consumables and integrated DRAGEN secondary analysis functionality. The Interior Business Center is inviting interested parties to submit capability statements to demonstrate their ability to fulfill this requirement within a specified timeframe.
Interested contractors must submit capability statements by 10:00 A.M. ET on April 20, 2026, to Contracting Officer Bridgette Ornelas and Contracting Specialist Desmond Harris via electronic submission. Submissions are limited to a maximum of ten pages in Microsoft Office-compatible or Adobe Acrobat format with 11-point minimum font size and must not exceed 8 MB in file size. The primary objective of this acquisition is to replace aging iSeq and legacy MiSeq instruments while supporting centralized sequencing operations with improved run reliability and streamlined workflows. The selected contractor must complete delivery no later than 12 weeks after contract award. The Government reserves the right to issue a Request for Quote based on responses received and may conduct a competitive acquisition at its sole discretion. All submissions will become Government property and will not be returned, and the Government will not reimburse any costs associated with responding to this notice.
