About this opportunity
The Government Publishing Office (GPO) is issuing a solicitation for HVAC duct cleaning services on the 3rd floor of Building C at their Washington, DC facility. The HVAC system was constructed in the 1970s and the ducts have not been cleaned in over 50 years, leading to the accumulation of impurities, particularly lead, in the ductwork. The contractor will be required to clean the supply, return, and exhaust air ducts connected to AHUs 33B, 33C, and 33D using mechanical and manual cleaning methods. The work must be completed over multiple weekends to minimize disruption. The government will award a firm fixed price contract to the responsive offeror proposing the lowest technically acceptable price. Proposals are due by September 5, 2024, and the period of performance is not to exceed 90 calendar days.
This solicitation is not set-aside for any specific business category. The government has not identified any incumbent contractors. The estimated value of the contract is not provided, but the scope of work includes cleaning approximately 813 linear feet of ductwork at the GPO's Washington, DC facility.
Notice text
The U.S. Government Publishing Office (GPO) provides publishing and dissemination services for official and authentic government publications to Congress, Federal agencies, Federal depository libraries, and the American public. The HVAC system was
constructed in the middle of the 1970s. During the last 50 years, many impurities accumulated in the HVAC system. These ducts should be cleaned periodically to rule out the possibility that the air supplied to regulate the office temperature and humidity may contain impurities. The most concerning impurity is lead. GPO Engineering looked for records of the HVAC duct cleaning in
this location, but no such records appear. The inside of the ductwork may not have been cleaned for more than 50 years.
