About this opportunity
The Transportation Security Administration posted a consolidated Questions and Answers document from its June 2026 "How to Do Business with TSA" webinar, providing guidance on contracting opportunities and modernization initiatives. TSA clarified that Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification is not currently a DHS requirement for doing business with TSA, though may apply on a contract-specific basis. Cloud modernization is TSA's highest priority, with opportunities for FedRAMP-compliant discovery, mapping, and migration tools, particularly those leveraging AI-driven capabilities for automation and optimization. TSA plans extensive integration of artificial intelligence and machine learning across screening detection, biometric identity verification, predictive staffing, AI-based training, large language models for workflow streamlining, and advanced analytics for cybersecurity and vetting. TSA seeks mature, secure-by-design, explainable AI solutions in advanced screening, machine vision, biometric authentication, forecasting, language services, identity resolution, cyber analytics, and data query capabilities. All upcoming IT and engineering requirements appear in the DHS Acquisition Planning Forecast at the TSA Industry Portal. Small businesses should monitor SAM.gov and APFS for modernization opportunities and attend TSA industry days. Greater small business participation in market research inquiries increases set-aside probability. Contractors should research expiring contracts via FPDS-NG to identify recompete opportunities. TSA's newly established Modernization office connects vendors through the Industry Portal for innovation pilots and technology demonstrations. Past performance on commercial contracts or work with other federal agencies equating to the same size, scope, and magnitude as the requirement is acceptable.
