About this opportunity

The National Institute of Standards and Technology seeks to procure a high-power, high repetition-rate near-infrared femtosecond laser system for terahertz pulse generation and spectroscopy applications. Offerors must provide a firm-fixed price quotation for a laser system capable of producing a minimum of 140 watts output power, 0.5 millijoule pulse energy, and user-selectable repetition rates from megahertz to single-shot. Quotations will be evaluated based on technical capability being the most important factor, followed by price. Quotations are due by July 11, 2023.

There is no set-aside designation. The NAICS code is 334516 for analytical laboratory instrument manufacturing. The laser system must be capable of producing 140 watts, 0.140 to 5 microjoules per pulse, with tunable output wavelengths between 600-900 nanometers and 1200-2500 nanometers. Delivery and commissioning of the laser system is requested by January 2023 at the National Institute of Standards and Technology in Gaithersburg, Maryland.

Update #3 · Latest ·

This is a combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial products or commercial services prepared in accordance with the format in subpart 12.6, as supplemented with additional information included in this notice. This announcement constitutes the only solicitation; proposals are being requested and a written solicitation will not be issued. The solicitation is being issued using simplified acquisition procedures for certain commercial items under the authority of FAR 13.5.

Scope: NIST requires a complete high-power, high repetition-rate near-infrared femtosecond (fs) laser system for terahertz pulse generation and spectroscopy applications.   Controlled pulse repetition rate from several MHz down to single shot with <500 fs duration will be used to generate THz output while a Optical Parametric Amplifer (OPA) pumped by the high power laser will provide tunable excitation wavelengths for pump-probe experiments.

SEE ATTACHED REQUEST FOR QUOTE AND SOW FOR DETAILS AND QUOTE SUBMISSION INSTRUCTIONS.
