About this opportunity
The Department of Energy's Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory is soliciting proposals for a helium-based cryocooler system, comprising one unit each of a cryocooler and a matched helium compressor. The cryocooler must achieve specific cooling capacity requirements of 3.0 W at 60K for the first stage and 0.02 W at 2.3K for the second stage, with minimum temperatures below 2.2K and cooldown to 2.3K within 120 minutes. The compressor must operate on standard 208V wall power with water-cooling capabilities and conform to specified physical dimension constraints. This is a best value source selection where award will be made to the lowest-priced technically acceptable offeror on a firm-fixed price basis with F.O.B. Fermilab delivery. Proposals are due by 5:00 PM CDT on May 12, 2026, and must include a formal quote on company letterhead, completed RFP form, completed SARC (Subcontractor Annual Representations & Certifications), and completed PUR-466 (Proposal Certifications). Inquiries should be directed to Rhiannon Patterson, Procurement Specialist III, at rhiannon@fnal.gov or 605-431-2905.
No set-aside designations have been applied to this solicitation. The procurement is being managed by Fermi Forward Discovery Group, LLC (FFDG) under Department of Energy prime contract number 89243024CSC000002, with no stated award value or budget range disclosed in the solicitation materials. Delivery is to Fermilab Receiving Warehouse 2 in Batavia, Illinois 60510, with payment terms of Net 30 and all freight charges to be included in the quoted price. The contract will incorporate FFDG's General Terms and Conditions for Commercial Products and Commercial Services (08.2025), establishing warranty obligations of 12 months after initial use or 18 months after delivery for supplies. Offerors must comply with extensive Federal Acquisition Regulation and Department of Energy Acquisition Regulation requirements, including export control compliance, Buy American provisions, intellectual property certifications, and debarment status verification through SAM.gov registration.
