About this opportunity
The Government Publishing Office (GPO) is seeking a Design-Build contractor to renovate Room C-109 at their Washington, DC facility into a new Police Locker Room. The contractor will be required to develop a complete design based on provided conceptual drawings and perform comprehensive renovations covering all building systems including HVAC, electrical, architectural, fire protection, and security systems. The project involves significant challenges including asbestos abatement, as testing revealed chrysotile asbestos in ceiling materials and floor tiles that must be properly removed before construction begins. The procurement will use a best-value tradeoff evaluation process, with technical factors including Technical Capability and Management Plan, Key Personnel, and Past Performance weighted more heavily than price. Proposals are due by 5:00 PM EST on August 25, 2025, with a mandatory site visit scheduled for July 3, 2025.
This solicitation does not include any set-aside designation and is open to all qualified contractors. No incumbent contractors or current service providers are identified in the documentation. While no specific contract value is disclosed, the project scope encompasses 2,483 square feet of renovation work with a performance period of 415 days for completion. The work will be performed at the GPO facility located at 732 N. Capitol Street, Washington, DC 20401, and involves transforming the existing space into a fully functional police facility with break rooms, offices, separate men's and women's locker rooms, evidence room, lunch room, and shower facilities. The renovation requires compliance with national design and construction standards and represents a comprehensive modernization of the existing space to meet current operational requirements for the GPO's Uniformed Police Branch.
