About this opportunity

The US Forest Service is seeking to reconstruct the Timberlane Campground, a facility originally built in 1965 that features approximately 14 individual campsites, trails, a pavilion with day use area, and serves multiple purposes including group events and school field trips. The project involves constructing and reconstructing various camping facilities, roads, and parking areas at the campground located on the Kootenai National Forest in northwest Montana, approximately 7.8 miles north of the Highway 37 Kootenai River Bridge in Libby. Contractors must provide all labor, supervision, equipment, materials, transportation, and supplies necessary to complete the work in compliance with contract specifications. The solicitation for this project will be posted on or about July 31, 2025, with the pre-solicitation notice currently available until that date. Both performance and payment bonds will be required, along with a bid guarantee, and work is estimated to begin around April 1, 2026.

This contract opportunity is designated as a 100% small business set-aside under NAICS code 237990 (Other Heavy and Civil Engineering Construction) with a size standard of $45 million. The estimated project value ranges between $1,000,000 and $5,000,000, reflecting the scope of reconstruction work required for the 10-acre campground footprint within the 640-acre government-owned lot. The project location is accessible via paved roads on Pipe Creek Road (Montana Secondary Highway 567), though contractors are strongly encouraged to visit the site during fall 2025 as winter road maintenance is not provided and access will be limited when the solicitation is issued. The engineering point of contact is Kenneth Wickward at (406) 283-7766, and the legal description identifies the location as South Section 35, Township 32N, Range 31W, entirely owned by the US Government through the Forest Service.
