The 42d Contracting Squadron at Maxwell Air Force Base, Alabama, is preparing to solicit firing range cleaning and maintenance services, with sources sought responses due October 7, 2026. No set-aside is anticipated. The procurement covers an 84-point Combat Arms Training Maintenance (CATM) range at Maxwell AFB, where the contractor will perform initial and recurring quarterly cleaning commencing in Q1 2027 to maintain the facility free of hazardous materials in compliance with Civil Engineering and Bio-Environmental standards.
The contractor must service government-owned equipment including two Savage Range Systems bullet traps (Model 800D w/Auger), two Southern Air & Filtration Dust Collection Units, and one SpeedAire Air Compressor (Model 35WC63). Responsibilities span debris removal from bullet traps, full HEPA vacuuming of all 84 firing positions, quarterly pressure washing, D-Lead wipe-downs of touchable surfaces, and equipment maintenance involving draining, oil checks, filter inspection, auger lubrication, and filter replacement with Custom Made High Efficiency DCU Cartridge Filters or approved equivalents. Waste management requires coordination with Maxwell Environmental Office and proper containment of lead and copper dust in U.N.-rated steel drums.
All contractor personnel handling hazardous materials must possess current HAZWOPER certification per 29 CFR 1910.120. Contractors must comply with base security requirements including 30-day advance notification, base identification and vehicle passes, REAL ID-compliant credentials, and restrictions on firearms, weapons, wireless devices, and cellular phone use while operating vehicles.
The procurement is classified under NAICS 562910 (Remediation Services) with a $25 million size standard. Sources sought responses should include company information, CAGE Code, demonstration of capability against the draft Statement of Work, and up to two references from similar contracts performed within the past three years, with price estimates or schedules. Submit responses by email to A1C Jonathan Cheslo (jonathan.cheslo@us.af.mil, 334-953-8994) or William Griffiths (william.griffiths.5@us.af.mil, 334-953-7393).
