About this opportunity
The Bureau of Land Management Nevada Region seeks roadside fuelbreak herbicide application services across five Nevada units totaling 4,032 acres, with quotes due September 3, 2026, at 1:00 PM Pacific Time. The procurement is a Total Small Business Set Aside with a government preference for award to a women-owned small business (WOSB). Questions are due August 21, 2026.
Place of performance is Lander, Nye, and Eureka Counties, Nevada, on Bureau of Land Management-administered lands along five roadside units: Lander Fish Creek (196 acres), Grass Valley (1,832 acres), Rye Patch (689 acres), Reese River (789 acres), and Eureka Fish Creek (526 acres). Work is performed along roadsides within 100 feet on both sides of identified roads, on slopes ranging from 5% to 50%, with some sections exceeding 60%.
Technical requirements include application of BLM-approved Imazapic herbicides (Plateau, Panoramic 2SL, Imazapic 2SL, or Open Range G) at a maximum rate of 0.125 lbs acid equivalent per acre per year using non-tracked vehicles with tires and broadcast application methods only—aerial application is prohibited. The contractor must hold a current Nevada Commercial Applicator License, provide GPS tracking with 15-foot accuracy, and maintain daily Pesticide Application Records. Environmental compliance mandates wind speed limits of 6 mph for boom applications and 15 mph for others, 25-foot setbacks from water sources, and 300-foot setbacks from threatened or endangered species habitat. Quality assurance, safety plan, and key personnel qualifications are required. Performance period runs September 15, 2026, through December 1, 2026, with government preference for November completion.
Payment is unit price per acre for actual acres treated as verified by GPS data and GIS mapping. Acreage variations exceeding 15% of estimated quantities are eligible for equitable adjustment. The contractor must furnish all labor, equipment, supplies, fuel, protective equipment, spill containment kits, and disposal services.
Evaluation uses best value trade-off considering Technical Capability, Relevant Experience (Past Performance), and Price, with technical and past performance combined being significantly more important than price. Past performance must demonstrate at least three recent and relevant projects within the past five years. Quotes require two parts: technical and past performance information, and price documentation (completed Standard Form 1449 and Bid Schedule). NAICS 115310 (Support Activities for Forestry); PSC F006 (Natural Resources/Conservation—Land Treatment Practices). Contact Tyler Johnson at tyler_johnson@ios.doi.gov or 775-861-6741.
