About this opportunity
The Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) Troop Support Indo-Pacific has issued a Request for Information (RFI) to identify commercial distributors capable of supplying fresh bread and bakery products to Department of Defense and non-DoD customers in the Anchorage, Alaska area, including Elmendorf Air Force Base and Fort Richardson. The RFI seeks vendors who can source, purchase, store, and distribute a variety of bread and bakery items while maintaining product quality, timely delivery, and responsive customer service. Critical qualifications require that offerors operate as functioning commercial distributors with direct capabilities in sourcing and delivery operations—third-party logistics firms that solely subcontract these functions are not acceptable. The government will evaluate responses based on industry readiness to stage and deliver products to Alaska, cold chain capabilities, shelf-life assurance practices, timeliness, and proposed delivery strategies. Interested vendors must submit capability statements by January 29, 2026, with this RFI issued for market research and planning purposes only and carrying no guarantee of future procurement.
This opportunity has no set-aside designation and does not identify any incumbent contractors or specific award values. The schedule of items specifies 12 line items of fresh bread and bakery products in package sizes ranging from 13 ounces to 24 ounces, including varieties such as honey oat bread, raisin bread, rye bread, sourdough bread, wheat bread, white bread, English muffins, frankfurter rolls, and hamburger rolls. The customer listing identifies 10 delivery points across Elmendorf Air Force Base, Fort Richardson, and various Anchorage military facilities, including Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson (JBER), Alaska Army National Guard facilities, and multiple dining and medical units. Vendors must maintain all required federal, state, and local licenses and certifications and demonstrate capability to respond to customer requests for additional or substitute items throughout the contract term. The RFI represents an early market research phase designed to inform contract structure and assess the commercial sector's capacity to support DoD subsistence requirements in Alaska.
