About this opportunity
The Department of the Navy Naval Supply Systems Command, through the Office of Naval Intelligence, has issued a Special Notice announcing its intent to award a sole-source contract for forklift repair and maintenance services. The procurement will cover four forklifts consisting of Doosan, Telehandler, Hyster, and Raymond models requiring preventative maintenance and repair services. The contract is structured as a Firm Fixed Price agreement spanning fiscal years 2025 through 2026. The Navy intends to negotiate exclusively with BRK Lift Truck, LLC under the authority of FAR 13.106-3 and FAR 6.302-1(b)(ii). This notice was posted on August 11, 2025, with the same due date, indicating an immediate procurement timeline.
The primary purpose of this Special Notice is to inform potential contractors that this procurement will not be conducted competitively and is designated for informational purposes only. The Navy has justified the sole-source approach based on BRK Lift Truck's unique qualifications, specifically their exclusive access to secure facilities at Navy locations in Chesapeake Beach and Suitland where the forklifts operate, as well as their familiarity with the aging equipment that frequently breaks down. The contract will include safety checks, preventative maintenance such as oil changes and greasing, and necessary repairs to prevent mission stoppages. No competitive quotations are being requested, and interested parties are directed to contact Doris Coleman at the provided email address for any questions. The procurement falls under the simplified acquisition threshold and addresses an urgent operational need to maintain material handling capabilities at critical Navy facilities.
