About this opportunity
The United States Special Operations Command (USSOCOM) is conducting market research through a Request for Information (RFI) regarding the procurement of various commercial weapons, including U.S. and foreign weapons, body armor, weapon accessories, and non-standard ammunition to support multiple Contingency Operations. Potential offerors must possess a current Directorate Defense Trade Control Brokering License (K license) and hold Federal Firearms Licenses for Type 11 Importer of Destructive Devices, Ammunition for Destructive Devices, or Armor Piercing Ammunition. Contractors must demonstrate performance within the past three years supporting the specific equipment types outlined in the Statement of Work, which includes assault rifles, machine guns, handguns, sniper rifles, grenade launchers, anti-tank weapons, and various ammunition types, with rigorous compliance to military and international standards including ballistic testing protocols. This RFI is for market research and acquisition planning purposes only and does not constitute a formal solicitation or commitment to award a contract. Interested parties should submit materials to Marvin Marcia at marvin.marcia@socom.mil and John Manzano at john.g.manzano.ctr@socom.mil, with a stated response deadline of January 16, 2026.
This procurement is designated as a total small business set-aside, restricting competition to qualified small business entities. The notice does not identify any current contractors or incumbents, nor does it specify an award value or budget range. No specific quantity of goods or service timeline is provided in this pre-solicitation phase, as USSOCOM is gathering market information to inform future acquisition planning. The Statement of Work emphasizes that contractors must provide new or relatively new stock manufactured within the past five years in unused condition, with comprehensive documentation including country of origin, manufacturer information, and date of manufacture for each item. The government explicitly states it will not be responsible for any costs incurred by interested parties in responding to this RFI and that responses submitted will not be considered proposals nor will any awards result from this information-gathering notice.
