The Department of Veterans Affairs Veterans Health Administration, Veterans Integrated Service Network 17, seeks a follow-on service agreement for maintenance and support of a Leica Biosystems DMi8 Inverted Fully Automated Research Microscope, with proposals due August 12, 2026 at 10:00 AM CDT. The procurement is unrestricted on the open market.
Place of performance is Waco, Texas at the Doris Miller VA Medical Center, home to the VISN 17 Center of Excellence for Research on Returning War Veterans. The contract is valued at $34 million with a base period running September 26, 2026 through September 25, 2027, and four option years extending through September 25, 2031. The microscope system performs live cell imaging with fluorescence for DAPI, GFP, CY3, and CY5 imaging modes, and includes DIC Nomarski, phase contrast, a scanning stage, ultra-high-speed monochrome and color cameras, LASX software bundle for XYZ multidimensional imaging, and a PC workstation with on-stage incubation system. All work must be performed exclusively by Leica Microsystems OEM factory-certified support or field service engineers during business hours (Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM) on specified federal holidays. The contractor must provide a Premium Care Service Plan including unlimited service visits, unlimited replacement parts and components (excluding objectives and consumables), one annual on-site planned maintenance visit with ISO 17025 calibration, unlimited technical support, and software updates.
