About this opportunity
The Department of the Air Force Air Education and Training Command is seeking a comprehensive F-35 Flight Training Simulator for the 56th Training Squadron at Luke Air Force Base. The simulator must include advanced technical specifications such as five 75-inch 4K displays, a mixed reality-capable cockpit, and high-performance computing equipment including an Intel i9 14900K processor and RTX 4090 graphics card. The procurement aims to create a sophisticated training environment that accurately replicates F-35 flight dynamics, supports hypoxia familiarization, and provides comprehensive visual and interactive training capabilities for aircrew. While specific evaluation criteria are not explicitly detailed in the pre-solicitation notice, the technical requirements suggest a focus on technological sophistication, training effectiveness, and precise simulation capabilities. The formal solicitation is expected to be posted within 7 days of this pre-solicitation notice, with responses due by May 7, 2025.
The contract is designated as a Total Small Business Set-aside under NAICS code 611512, with a size standard of $34,000,000, indicating opportunities for smaller businesses to compete. The procurement includes on-site installation and an initial warranty covering software updates and hardware repair, with an option to purchase an annual sustainment package. Importantly, the government has noted that funds are not currently available, and they reserve the right to cancel the solicitation before or after the closing date without any obligation to reimburse offerors for incurred costs. The technical specifications suggest a significant investment in cutting-edge training technology, with the simulator featuring advanced elements like Steam VR base stations, XR-4 Enterprise Pro Package tracking systems, and capabilities for night vision training and in-cockpit advisory warning displays. The comprehensive nature of the requirements indicates a sophisticated and potentially high-value contract for the selected vendor.
