About this file
This document is a detailed Salient Characteristics specification for an F-35 flight and aerospace physiology training simulator for 56TRS (56th Training Squadron). The requirements specify a comprehensive unclassified simulator with multiple technical and functional specifications, including (5) 75-inch 4K displays, a cockpit hardware configuration within specific dimensional constraints, mixed reality capabilities, and advanced software requirements. Key technical elements include a high-performance simulation PC with an Intel i9 14900K processor, RTX 4090 graphics card, 64GB RAM, Steam VR base stations, and XR-4 Enterprise Pro Package tracking systems.
The simulator must accurately replicate F-35 flight dynamics, feature a functional cockpit with real-world switches, support hypoxia familiarization training, and display critical in-cockpit advisory warnings (ICAWs). Additional requirements include accommodating an aircrew visual monitoring camera, supporting head tracking devices, producing night vision training visuals, and maintaining an intuitive interface for trainees and instructors. The procurement includes on-site installation, an initial warranty for software updates and hardware repair, and an option to purchase an annual sustainment package. The opportunity is a Total Small Business Set-aside under NAICS code 611512, with a size standard of $34,000,000.

1. General Requirements:
a. 56TRS is seeking to acquire a dual purpose flight and aerospace physiology training unclassified F-35 simulator. This device will be able to control Environics’ ROBD device, have real world functioning switches as opposed to digital representation of switches, and will display and annunciate F-35 ICAWs.
2. Functional Requirements:
a. The simulator must be unclassified
b. The simulator must accurately replicate the flight dynamics and performance of an
F-35
c. The simulator must feature a functional cockpit with functional switchology vs display only or digital representation only type of switches
d. The simulator must include a high-fidelity visual system with mixed reality capabilities
e. The simulator software must be able to control Environics’ ROBD device for hypoxia familiarization training;
f. The simulator software must have the ability to control blood oxygen saturation monitoring devices
g. The simulator must be able to accommodate an aircrew visual monitoring camera
h. At a minimum, the simulator software must be capable of displaying and/or annunciating the following ICAWs: BOS override, IPP fail, BOS on, CABIN PRESS, OXYGEN CRITICAL, BOS LO, BOS ON, BOS OVERRIDE, OXY FLOW DEGD, and PBA FAIL
i. The simulator must have the ability to support a head tracking device capable of producing off boresight visuals of HMD symbology
j. The simulator and simulator software must produce DAS and NVC HMD visuals for night vision training, to include a night vision refueling training scenario
k. The simulator software must be capable of operating in unclassified status while maintain the ability to display and/or annunciate the following minimum ICAWS from the same computer: ICAWs: BOS override, IPP fail, BOS on, CABIN PRESS, OXYGEN CRITICAL, BOS LO, BOS ON, BOS OVERRIDE, OXY FLOW DEGD, and PBA FAIL
l. Simulator software must display when the BOS switch is activated
3. Simulator must have green colored functional BOS switch
4. Capable of adding PIC connection switch
3. Technical Requirements:
