About this opportunity
The Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base is conducting a Sources Sought/Request for Information to identify vendors capable of supplying an Epilog Fusion CNC CO2 Laser or equivalent system, with responses due by June 1, 2026. This is not a presolicitation notice, RFQ, or commitment to award; the Government will not accept quotes at this time.
AFRL/RQQ requires one laser system to replace a failed legacy unit supporting power and thermal research missions. The system must deliver at least 80W of power with a minimum cut area of 24 inches by 36 inches, capable of de-rating to Class I or Class II laser classification through interlocks, and capable of fully offline, air-gapped operation without internet connectivity. The vendor must source the equipment from a fully American-owned and operated company and ensure integration compatibility with industry-standard drawing programs including Adobe Illustrator, LightBurn, or CorelDRAW.
Place of performance is Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio. No set-aside applies. The requirement is categorized under NAICS 333517 (Machine Tool Manufacturing) and PSC 3449 (Miscellaneous Secondary Metal Forming and Cutting Machines).
Interested vendors—including small businesses, 8(a) concerns, HUBZone small businesses, service-disabled veteran-owned small businesses, EDWOSBs, and WOSBs—should submit capability packages addressing company information, CAGE code, points of contact, small business designation status, relevant experience, item specifications or brochures, potential teammates or subcontractors, and identified risks or unknowns. The Minimum Requirements Document dated May 20, 2026 provides additional detail.
