About this opportunity

The Department of Agriculture Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS) has posted a Draft Federal Purchase Program Specification (FPPS) for Freshwater Wild-Caught Catfish Fillets. This FPPS outlines the detailed requirements for catfish fillets that AMS will procure for federal food programs.

The purpose of this Special Notice is to provide contractors with the draft FPPS and solicit feedback prior to the final release. The FPPS specifies that the catfish fillets must be derived from wild-caught freshwater blue catfish harvested in U.S. waters, with target portion weights of 4.0 ounces. Contractors must adhere to FSIS regulations, provide documentation on domestic origin, and have processes in place to detect and remove contaminants. The fillets must be individually quick frozen and packaged in 2-pound, 5-pound, 8-pound, or 10-pound increments. There are no set-aside requirements, and the opportunity is open to all eligible contractors. The FPPS is intended to support a new federal contract opportunity with Solicitation Number 12-3J14-Notice-24-032, with a due date of June 21, 2024.
