About this opportunity

The Department of the Air Force Materiel Command Nuclear Weapons Center is seeking a contractor to provide magnetometer rental services for the 2025 Kirtland Air Force Base Airshow, specifically requiring walk-through weapons detection systems with advanced capabilities. The solicitation (FA9401-25-Q-0029) calls for 3 dual-lane and 1 single-lane magnetometer systems capable of processing 14,000 people per hour with technology that can differentiate between common metallic items and weapons to minimize false alarms. Contractors must provide complete services including equipment setup, Air Force member training, and post-event teardown. The quote response is due by April 18, 2025, at 1400 hours MST, with quotes remaining valid through May 19, 2025. Potential bidders must be classified under NAICS code 561621 for Security System Services, with a size standard of $25,000,000.

The solicitation is not set aside for any specific small business category, though the government notes it is a 100% small business opportunity. The performance will occur at Kirtland Air Force Base in Albuquerque, New Mexico, with the event scheduled from May 29 through June 1, 2025. The contractor must deliver a staff roster by May 12, 2025, and have equipment fully operational by May 31, 2025, at 0800 hours. The systems must include multiple lane configurations, be highly portable, and maintain a 12-hour battery life. While specific budget details are not explicitly stated, the government reserves the right to cancel the solicitation, and current funds are not available. Potential contractors should note that the government will provide work area access and utilities, but the contractor must supply all materials and equipment necessary for the magnetometer security screening services.
