About this opportunity
The Naval Medical Research Center, under the Department of the Navy Naval Supply Systems Command, has issued a Special Notice for a sole source contract to KLS-Martin L.P. for SonicWeld Rx consumables and accessories. The contract is specifically for the Naval Medical Research Unit in San Antonio, Texas, and focuses on procuring medical devices for bone fixtures. The SonicWeld Rx system is the only product meeting the government's strict requirements, including FDA approval, the ability to hold broken facial bones in place, being resorbable by the body, and utilizing ultrasonic vibrations to adhere material to bone. The contract is set for fiscal years 2025-2026, with a base period of 12 months and no option years.
The primary objective of this Special Notice is to support NAMRU-SA research projects by procuring a specific medical device system with minimal operational disruption. The contract will include 19 sterile mesh pieces, 28 packs of sterile pins, 10 twist drills, 14 sterile battery packs, and 2 handpieces with cables. Contractors interested in responding should note the due date of April 11, 2025, and understand that market research has already been conducted, with KLS-Martin L.P. being the only company meeting all specified requirements. While the opportunity is technically open, it is effectively a sole source award. The delivery location will be NAMRU-SA at JBSA Fort Sam Houston, TX, with performance occurring during standard business hours Monday through Friday. Evaluation factors will include Past Performance, Technical Approach, and Price, and no security clearance is required for this unclassified effort.
