About this opportunity
The Department of the Air Force Space Command is seeking an electrical contractor to repair and modify Harsh Environment Uninterruptible Power Supply (HEU) Lighting Inverters at Cheyenne Mountain Space Force Station in Colorado. The contract requires repairing two of seven HEU lighting inverters manufactured by Crucial Power Products, replacing eight 12VDC batteries across all seven units, and reprogramming the systems to operate in normal mode during standard conditions and emergency mode upon power loss. Contractors must be licensed electricians with specific expertise in Crucial Power Products UPS systems and must navigate strict facility access protocols, including background checks and coordination with Cheyenne Mountain Control Center. The market research is focused on electrical contractors with NAICS code 238210, and the government will evaluate potential vendors based on their technical capabilities, parts acquisition ability, and timeline for completing the work. Responses to the Sources Sought Announcement are due by March 14, 2025, at 1:00 PM Mountain Time.
The procurement is designated as a Total Small Business set-aside, targeting smaller electrical contracting firms with specialized capabilities. While no incumbent contractor is specifically named, the project requires precise technical skills in servicing complex UPS systems in a highly secure military environment. The anticipated solicitation is planned for Q2 Fiscal Year 2025, with contractors expected to complete the entire project within a 90-day window. The scope of work involves comprehensive modifications to seven HEU units, including repairs, battery replacements, and reprogramming, which suggests a moderate-value contract. Contractors must be prepared to provide extensive documentation upon completion, including maintenance reports, test results, and updated AutoCAD drawings, which will become government property. The project's technical complexity and the restricted nature of the Cheyenne Mountain Space Force Station indicate that only highly qualified and security-cleared electrical contractors will be considered.
