About this opportunity

SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory, operating on behalf of the Department of Energy Office of Science, seeks U.S. domestic end item sources for linear diamond gratings with proposals due August 12. This is a simplified acquisition for technical acceptability lowest price award, with an estimated value of $67,890.

Place of performance is Menlo Park, California. The procurement requires two substrates, each comprising a single crystal CVD diamond plate (10 mm × 10 mm × 0.1 mm) with two gratings per substrate. Substrate 1 requires grating depth greater than 3.5 micrometers at 980 nm pitch with duty cycles of 30% and 40%; Substrate 2 requires depth greater than 5 micrometers at 2000 nm pitch with identical duty cycles. Each grating measures approximately 2 mm × 1 mm with grooves parallel to the 1 mm edge. Polycrystalline diamond is explicitly unacceptable; only single crystal substrates qualify. Two optional line items offer enhanced depths (greater than 5 micrometers and greater than 8 micrometers respectively) at premium pricing. All deliverables must meet communicated SLAC CAD specifications for location and orientation engraving.

Evaluation under LPTA methodology rates all factors as acceptable or unacceptable with no intermediate scoring. Technical acceptability requires the specifications above; business evaluation considers competitive market pricing, offeror responsibility (financial, manufacturing, technical, facilities, staffing, and management capability), and active SAM.gov registration. NAICS code is 333310, Commercial and Service Industry Machinery Manufacturing. PSC code is AG13, Energy R&D Services. Buy American Act certification is required; bidders must certify domestic source or estimate foreign content within plus or minus 5 percent accuracy. Subcontracts are subject to SLAC's supplemental FAR clause rider incorporating small business utilization, diversity provisions, environmental compliance, and Buy American requirements.
