About this opportunity
The Department of Agriculture Forest Service seeks stewardship contracting services to create a 600-foot-wide ridgeline fuel break on the Shasta-Trinity National Forest's McCloud Ranger District, with proposals due August 4, 2026. This procurement is restricted to vendors approved for call orders under the Region 5 Pacific Southwest Stewardship BPA; only those eligible companies may submit and receive award consideration.
Place of performance is McCloud, California. The project encompasses approximately 509 acres across ten mapped units and includes four mandatory work items: masticate brush and small trees (all vegetation less than 10 inches diameter breast height, retaining oaks, dogwood, and hardwoods), fall dead standing trees and macerate tops and branches less than 10 inches, create two helispots by clearing 160-foot-diameter circles, and maintain or establish access via the Bald Mountain Jeep Trail and 38N36 road, including repairs to any operational damage and installation of waterbars for erosion control. Period of performance runs from award date through February 1, 2029. Work is restricted during Northern Spotted Owl nesting season (February 1 through September 15) and during elevated fire risk periods. The NAICS code is 115310, Support Activities for Forestry. This is a small business set-aside with a size standard of $30 million, firm fixed-price, and anticipated single award without discussions unless deemed necessary. All mandatory work items must be priced to be considered responsive. Evaluation weights technical approach and relevant past performance as significantly more important factors, with local workforce utilization and community benefit weighed alongside cost/price. A mandatory site visit is scheduled for July 23, 2026, at 8:00 a.m. at McCloud Ranger Station. Questions are due July 29, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. PT. Service Contract Act wage determination requirements apply with minimum wage rates established by occupational classification.
