About this opportunity
The Department of the Air Force Headquarters District Washington has issued a Special Notice regarding an Automatic Metadata Publishing Service Containers contract opportunity. This notice announces the government's intent to award a sole source contract under the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) 13.501(a) for Simplified Acquisition Procedures. The agency has determined that only one source is capable of providing the required commercial products or services at the necessary quality level due to their unique or highly specialized nature. The notice falls under NAICS code 541512 for Computer Systems Design Services and was posted on August 26, 2025. The government plans to solicit and negotiate with only one predetermined source rather than conducting a competitive procurement process.
The primary purpose of this Special Notice is to inform the contracting community of the government's intention to proceed with a sole source acquisition while providing an opportunity for other potential contractors to challenge this decision. Interested parties have until September 10, 2025, to submit written statements of capability or proposals that will be evaluated solely to determine whether a competitive acquisition should be pursued instead. The government will review all capability statements received within five calendar days of the notice publication date, accepting only written responses from responsible sources. Contractors must demonstrate their ability to provide the specialized metadata publishing service containers that meet the Air Force's specific requirements. This notice serves as both a transparency measure and a final opportunity for qualified vendors to present their capabilities before the sole source award proceeds.
