About this opportunity
The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, through its Joint Administrative Operations (JAO), has issued a Special Notice announcing its intent to award a sole source contract to Illumina, Inc. for annual service and maintenance of a NextSeq 1000 DNA Sequencer. The contract will be a firm fixed price agreement under Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) Part 13.106-1(b) for purchases not exceeding the simplified acquisition threshold of $250,000. The notice is specifically for laboratory equipment maintenance, classified under the North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code 811210 for Electronic and Precision Equipment Repair and Maintenance. The contract will support the Fish and Wildlife Service's environmental DNA testing, population status monitoring, and genetic research capabilities.
The primary objective of this sole source contract is to obtain a comprehensive service agreement for maintaining, servicing, and repairing the NextSeq 1000 DNA Sequencer, which is critical for the agency's scientific testing requirements. While the notice is not a competitive solicitation, interested parties can submit a statement of capabilities if they believe they can provide advantageous competition for the government. Any capability statements must be submitted via email to jeremy_tyler@fws.gov as a Microsoft Word or Adobe PDF attachment by June 18, 2025. Respondents must provide clear and convincing evidence of their competitive potential, understanding that any costs associated with preparing and submitting documentation are solely the responsibility of the respondent. Telephone requests or offers will not be considered, and the government will not reimburse any submission-related expenses. The contract will support the agency's genetic and molecular biology research efforts, focusing on environmental DNA testing and community-based analysis.
