About this opportunity
NASA's Shared Services Center seeks analysis of brain MRI images to quantify spaceflight-associated neuro-ocular measures, with capabilities and qualifications due July 6, 2026. This is a sole source procurement intended for Flux Neuroscience, LLC under FAR 12.102(a) and conducted as a commercial item acquisition using FAR Part 12 procedures.
Place of performance is Houston, Texas 77058 (NASA Johnson Space Center), with the contractor based at Flux Neuroscience in Moscow, Idaho. The contractor must possess demonstrated experience in advanced quantitative MRI ocular assessments and shall perform 3D MR image analysis and post-processing to measure posterior globe volume displacement, optic nerve sheath cross-sectional area, optic nerve cross-sectional area, and optic nerve deviation across 27 brain MRI datasets supporting the Human Research Program's study on eye structure and function changes resulting from spaceflight exposure.
The contract period runs from July 1, 2026 through June 30, 2028 as a base year, with three optional one-year extensions through June 30, 2031. Deliverables are phased: 10 MRI dataset analyses by end of Year 1, 10 by end of Year 2, and 7 by end of Year 3. The contractor shall manage MRI data transfer, provide results to Principal Investigator Brandon Macias, Ph.D., and assist in preparation of project reports and manuscripts. The NAICS code is 541690 (Other Scientific and Technical Consulting Services); PSC is B599 (Special Studies/Analysis—Other). Submissions are limited to written capability statements; oral communications are not acceptable. NASA FAR Supplement Clause 1852.215-84 (Ombudsman) applies. The Government reserves the right to proceed with sole source award or initiate full and open competition.
