About this opportunity

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) issued a notice of intent to award a sole-source firm fixed price purchase order to Agilent Technologies Inc. for preventative maintenance services on an Agilent Oligo Pro II analytical system, with responses due by June 22, 2026. This is not a competitive solicitation; under FAR 13.106-1(b)(1)(i), the CDC determined that only Agilent can satisfy requirements because the system contains proprietary parts manufactured exclusively by Agilent, and only Agilent service engineers possess the training and parts access needed to maintain the instrument at required service levels. The Biotechnology Core Facility Branch within the Division of Core Laboratory and Scientific Resources requires these services to support the DNA section, which synthesizes and analyzes approximately 8,000 oligonucleotides annually for outbreak investigations and FDA-approved PCR assay kits. The three-year service agreement, effective July 1, 2026, through June 30, 2029, requires one scheduled annual preventative maintenance visit including full system diagnostics and critical parts exchange, all labor and travel costs, unlimited breakdown calls, and 24- to 48-hour priority response to equipment failures. NAICS code 811210 applies. The anticipated award date is on or before July 1, 2026. Parties interested in responding must submit a capability statement with management, technical, and cost information in sufficient detail.
