About this opportunity
The U.S. Army Aviation and Missile Command (AMCOM), procuring through Army Contracting Command-Redstone Arsenal, seeks three benchtop fused deposition modeling (FDM) printers for expeditionary additive manufacturing capability, with Solution Briefs due September 10, 2026, at 12:00 PM Central Time. The procurement is not set-aside and will be awarded as a Firm-Fixed-Price contract under FAR-based CSO procedures.
Place of performance spans Fort Campbell, Fort Hood, and Fort Bragg. The required systems must deliver a build volume between 250×220×254 mm minimum and 300×300×330 mm maximum; layer resolution of 0.05 mm minimum for detail prints and up to 0.30 mm for high-speed prints; USB, SD card, and optional network printing connectivity; operation in environments of 15–38°C and 30–70% relative humidity with air filtration capability; Windows 7, 8, 8.1, or 10 (64-bit) compatibility with minimum 4 GB RAM; compatibility with PLA, ABS, ASA, and TPU filament materials; and four-year packages covering consumables, software maintenance, warranty and maintenance, and technical support. Solutions must be inclusive of shipping costs, ancillary equipment, operating software, and sustainment. The NAICS code is 333248, All Other Industrial Machinery Manufacturing; PSC is 3695, Miscellaneous Special Industry Machinery.
The submission process consists of three phases: Phase 1 (Solution Brief with Quad Chart and White Paper), Phase 2 (optional oral presentation or demonstration), and Phase 3 (detailed proposal submission). Phase 1 evaluation is based on technical merit (primary), schedule, and viability; cost and price evaluation does not occur during Phase 1. Questions are due August 26, 2026, at 12:00 PM Central Time. Amendment 01, posted September 2, 2026, changed the title to Advanced Manufacturing Benchtop FDM Printers and updated requirement attributes including the Solution Brief suspense date.

The U.S. Army Aviation and Missile Command (AMCOM) is seeking innovative solutions consisting of three (3) Expeditionary Additive Manufacturing (EAM) Systems for immediate integration at Fort Campbell, Fort Hood, and Fort Bragg. These systems will provide an expeditionary, point-of-need manufacturing capability designed to immediately translate digital technical data packages (TDPs) into structural, environmentally-grade components within tactical maintenance environments.
Establishing expeditionary, point-of-need manufacturing capability at these installations is vital for empowering forward-deployed liaison engineers to manufacture immediate, structurally adequate replacement parts, fixtures, and specialized maintenance tooling on-site. Proactively deploying this capability is essential for overcoming extended supply chain lead times for low-demand, non-flight-safety-essential components, mitigating critical aviation readiness degradation, and significantly reducing prolonged aircraft-on-ground (AOG) status for simple component failures.
The full Call for Solutions document(.pdf), detailing the problem statement, required solution attributes, submission requirements, and evaluation phases, is available in the "Attachments" section below.
All questions regarding this Call must be submitted via email to Melissa Jakes at melissa.d.jakes.civ@army.mil and Morgan McGee at morgan.p.mcgee2.civ@army.mil. The deadline to submit questions for Phase 1 is Wednesday, 26 August 2026, at 12:00 PM Central Time.
