About this opportunity
The Federal Aviation Administration intends to solicit ASR-9 Beacon Cable Kits under a Total Small Business set-aside, with responses due by August 4, 2026. The procurement supports modifications to Air Traffic Control Beacon Interrogator (ATCBI-5) configurations at ASR-9 facilities as part of the Brand-New Air Traffic Control System implementation under the Radar System Replacement Program. Current rotary joints at ASR-9/ATCBI-5 sites lack sufficient signal paths for RSR architecture integration; the kits convert existing rotary joints to Mode Select Beacon System (Mode-S) configuration by replacing beacon cables.
The statement of work structures the procurement in two Contract Line Item Numbers. CLIN 001 requires delivery of one first article unit within ninety days after receipt of order, followed by FAA visual inspection and a thirty-day approval or rejection period. CLIN 002 is an option to purchase up to nineteen production units, with delivery required no later than one hundred eighty days after notification of first article approval. The contractor must provide all labor, facilities, equipment, and materials to fabricate the kits according to a detailed parts list specifying Heliax cable, connectors, lower cable, and surge arrestors from approved manufacturers including Andrew/Amphenol Corporation and Pasternack, with Tessco and Mouser listed as alternative suppliers. All kits must be preserved, packaged, and packed in accordance with Provision 61. Brandon Brumley, Radar Technical and Program Support Branch, serves as the Contracting Officer's Representative.
Notice text
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has identified a requirement to procure conversion kits to support modifications to the Air Traffic Control Beacon Interrogator (ATCBI-5) configuration at Airport Surveillance Radar Model 9 (ASR-9) facilities as part of the Brand-New Air Traffic Control System (BNATCS) implementation under the Radar System Replacement (RSR) Program.
The rotary joints currently installed at ASR-9/ATCBI-5 sites do not provide the number of signal paths required to support integration with the RSR architecture. To achieve compatibility, the existing rotary joints must be converted to the configuration utilized at ASR-9 sites equipped with the Mode Select Beacon System (Mode-S). This conversion requires the installation of a kit developed by AJW-1433, which replaces the existing beacon cables.
