About this file

This Statement of Work describes the Federal Aviation Administration's procurement of ASR-9 Beacon Cable Replacement Kits to support modifications to Air Traffic Control Beacon Interrogator (ATCBI-5) configurations at ASR-9 facilities as part of the Brand-New Air Traffic Control System implementation under the Radar System Replacement Program. The kits will replace existing beacon cables to convert rotary joints to a Mode Select Beacon System (Mode-S) configuration, enabling integration with the RSR architecture. The contractor must provide all labor, facilities, equipment, and materials to fabricate the kits according to a detailed parts list provided in Attachment 1.

The procurement is structured in two Contract Line Item Numbers: CLIN 001 requires delivery of one first article unit within ninety (90) days after receipt of order, followed by FAA visual inspection and a thirty-day approval or rejection period. CLIN 002 is an option to purchase up to nineteen (19) production units, with delivery required no later than one hundred eighty (180) days after notification of first article approval. All kits must be preserved, packaged, and packed in accordance with Provision 61. The Contracting Officer's Representative is Brandon Brumley, AJW-L910, Radar Technical and Program Support Branch.

STATEMENT OF WORK

Procurement of ASR-9 Beacon Cable Replacement Kit

1. BACKGROUND

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has identified a requirement to procure conversion kits to support modifications to the Air Traffic Control Beacon Interrogator (ATCBI-5) configuration at Airport Surveillance Radar Model 9 (ASR-9) facilities as part of the Brand-New Air Traffic Control System (BNATCS) implementation under the Radar System Replacement (RSR) Program.

The rotary joints currently installed at ASR-9/ATCBI-5 sites do not provide the number of signal paths required to support integration with the RSR architecture. To achieve compatibility, the existing rotary joints must be converted to the configuration utilized at ASR-9 sites equipped with the Mode Select Beacon System (Mode-S). This conversion requires the installation of a kit developed by AJW-1433, which replaces the existing beacon cables.
