About this opportunity

The Department of the Air Force Materiel Command Air Force Sustainment Center is seeking to procure four Water Cooled X-ray Systems through a pre-solicitation notice. The contract requires highly specialized X-ray equipment with specific technical capabilities, including automatic voltage adaptation between 100-250Vac, operating range of 10-160kV, and 0.5-5.0mA output. The systems must feature a Beryllium 0.8mm window, 40 directional radiation output, and meet rigorous performance standards such as 14R/min radiation output and less than 2.0 Roentgens per hour radiation leakage. While specific evaluation criteria are not explicitly detailed in the pre-solicitation notice, the technical specifications suggest a comprehensive review of equipment functionality, safety features, and compliance with precise engineering requirements. The opportunity was posted on January 8, 2025, with responses due by January 9, 2025, indicating a very compressed response timeline.

The contract is designated as a Total Small Business set-aside, which means only small businesses can compete for this opportunity. The anticipated purchase involves four water-cooled X-ray systems, each with extensive technical specifications including a liquid cooling unit weighing approximately 54 lbs, a tube head with specific dimensional constraints, and a control unit with advanced safety features like pressure relief valves and microcomputer-based self-diagnostics. The systems will be classified under NAICS Category 334519 for Other Measuring and Controlling Device Manufacturing and PSC Category 6680 for Liquid and Gas Flow Measuring Instruments. While no specific award value is mentioned, the complexity and specialized nature of the equipment suggest a potentially significant contract value. The systems come with comprehensive accessories including a 100' tubehead cable, 25' power cable, GUI control software, and various safety and operational components.
