About this opportunity

The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Veterans Health Administration is conducting market research for a construction contract to install pushbutton door operators at the Walla Walla VA Medical Center in Washington State. The project aims to comply with ADA access requirements by adding automatic door operators to first and second floor public restrooms and a staff entrance in Building 143. Interested firms must have a North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code of 238290 for Other Building Equipment Contractors, with a small business size standard of $19 million. Respondents are required to submit a two-page response by May 13, 2025, at 12:00 MDT, including contact information, business classification, capabilities statement, past performance details, and potential product lead times. The VA will use the gathered information for market research purposes and to potentially shape the acquisition strategy for a future competitive solicitation.

The opportunity is set aside for Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Businesses (SDVOSB), with additional interest in other socio-economic small business programs including HUBZone, 8(a), and Women-Owned Small Business categories. While no specific contract value is mentioned, the project has a 120-calendar day performance period, with work to be completed Monday through Friday during normal business hours. Contractors will need to obtain security badges and coordinate closely with the Contracting Officer Representative (COR). The VA has not waived Buy American requirements or the nonmanufacturer rule, and interested firms must be prepared to demonstrate compliance with subcontracting limitations. Responses must include information about potential supply materials, lead times, and any potential conflicts with Buy American requirements.
